Long time, no post (on my blog at least). August came and flew by so quickly. I think most of my summer was spent stressing over getting posts when it was blazing hot that I spent August actually enjoying summer and not worrying too much about posting. One weekend was spent in Milton, another in Kingston and Ganaoque, another at the CNE and new parts of the GTA I don’t normally go to. It’s safe to say that it was an enjoyable month but it’s time to get back into action on my blog! I am focusing a lot on Instagram lately so to see daily outfits, you should follow there. This week’s post is just a little recap of outfits I wore throughout the month and a closer look at 2 outfits that I constantly wore (which are my favourite in this post as well!)
Like I mentioned, I went to Kingston one weekend with my family and my absolute favourite was visiting Martello Alley. The alleyway reminded me of something you’d see in Europe (even though I haven’t been myself, this is what I imagine). I wore this River Island dress that I’m in love with! The cut is very unique and since I don’t tend to wear a lot of off the shoulder dresses and tops, this was definitely up my alley.
The first time I wore this outfit was to a going away dinner that a co-worker of mine was having. After wearing this blouse from SheIn all day, I ended up falling in love with the one shoulder vibe. I was very unsure about it when I picked it out from SheIn because it’s not a piece I’d normally pick out right away but I am so happy I did. I love the tiny polka dots and the bow for added interest. I also think it’ll be great to transition this into fall. Of course, the Forever21 slingbacks and Na-kd jeans (similar) make an appearance again. Those two are some of my all time favourite pieces even though they’re new for 2018 in my wardrobe.
The next day, I went to the Marc Anthony Hair Care salon event where they re-launched their Bye Bye Frizz collection. It’s now silicone free and they released a couple of new products in that line as well that’s super exciting. Another thing to note is that my hair is now short! They ended up giving me a hair cut as part of the event and I’m so excited to have it short for the fall. It’s something I never have so it’ll be a fun change. As for the outfit, I got this matching set during the Zara sale. The top is also from Zara which I got last year and my beloved Forever21 white slingback heels.
Of course, summer doesn’t end until the CNE starts in Toronto. I went super casual with my look since there would be a lot of walking that day. I wore another polka dot top that has self-tie bows on the side (from Forever21) with a pair of shorts (from Urban Planet). As accessories, I stayed with the light pink and white vibe by wearing a light pink backpack from Victoria Secret and white clout sunglasses (also from Urban Planet).
Now this outfit is one of my favourites because even though I wore it a few times this month, I wore it during a backyard dinner that I had with Noah. His backyard has grape vines and we decorated it with lights, had candles and flowers and the cutest plate setting. We even ended the night with slow dancing and it’s without a doubt one of my favourite moments with him (which is hard to say because we have a lot of amazing times together). I wore my coveted white Zara lace top that I got a couple of years ago and wore it an asymmetrical floral skirt from SheIn. Surprisingly, I don’t own a lot of ruffle bottoms (just an overload of ruffled tops).
After a brunch that I attended with Bay Street Journal, I had a coffee date with Noah and of course, I changed my outfit to get a photo. I’m crazy for this but I wore a cashmere thrifted short sleeve sweater with a suspender skirt from Forever21. I wanted to wear a beret despite the heat because I might a well go all out if I already was wearing cashmere. I swapped my heels from earlier and wore Converse with this to make it a more casual look.
Finally, the last outfit was another casual outfit! I am obsessed with the cut of this top from Forever21. The neutral colour makes it perfect to transition into the fall. You can wear it off the shoulder like intended but I decided to wear it on my shoulders so that the cut was different. I wore some mom shorts that I recently got from Zara and paired it with Converse. Again, there was a lot of walking because Noah and I spent that day walking across the boardwalk at Sunnyside beach and also had dinner at the restaurant that’s there!
