Transitioning into Spring | PopJulia Review

Feels like forever since I’ve updated you guys on my life! As you’ve noticed, I haven’t been posting twice a week as much anymore. Exciting news, I GOT A FULL TIME JOB IN SOCIAL MEDIA! I’ve been wanting to get into digital communications as a career and if you know me, you’d know I graduated with a double major in math and art history. I’m happy to say that I’m working as a social media coordinator which has been taking up a lot of my time! Since I didn’t have the education in digital marketing/social media, expect a post about how I got the dream job I wanted and more career type of posts to help millennials with their recent grad struggles.

There are hundreds of online retailers around the world and it’s hard to keep up with every single one. There are the typical ones that people shop at like ASOS, Revolve, Nak-d, PrettyLittleThing, Boohoo, etc. but there are also the ones that some people may be more skeptical to because they’re not as known. For today’s post, I’m reviewing two items I received from PopJulia, an online store based in Asia as part of my transitioning into spring series!

Although transitioning into spring is a weird adjustment for me, I do like the fact that I get to pull out my cute wool coats. I tend to only wear them when it’s one of those milder winter days so depending on the year, I could wear them all the time or not at all. Now that the weather has been slowly warming up, I’m happy to say that I get to pull these two new coats of mine a few more times! Toronto is not as cold but you still need a heavier coat than a trench coat at the moment and these two are perfect for that transitional time.

OUTFIT 1: Long Sleeve Plain Buttoned Wool Blend Coat

I gravitated towards this first coat because of the unique closure on the front. When I keep the coat open, I have it like it’s shown in these photos but if I decide to close it, you’ll have to see how I have it done in my winter lookbook! I love the little belled out sleeves but it is shorter than expected on the arms. It’s not a winter coat (at least not a Canadian one), it’s more of a spring or autumn one for us Canadians. If you have a mild winter in your city then this coat is defs for you! As for the quality, it’s pretty standard and has the lining inside. The photos on the website are very deceiving though because if you compare it with my photos, it looks nothing like mustard – it’s more of a camel colour in person (which personally I love so much more). For $60 CAD, it’s a bit pricier than I would pay (I would probably only dish out $40 for this) but overall it’s super cute. This coat definitely works for people who are more petite because of the shorter arms!

OUTFIT 2: Pockets Long Sleeve Shawl Collar Buttoned Plus Size Coat

I’ve always wanted to own a statement coat (okay yes, I know I have that faux fur one but I meant colour-wise!) I’ve always loved how striking the colour red can be but I also don’t like wearing it mainly because it’s hard to fit on my Instagram feed haha. I wanted to step outside my comfort zone and just go for it. Again, this coat is definitely not winter appropriate for Canadians/New Yorkers, etc…I literally froze last night when it was -10 degrees while wearing it! This coat definitely was better in the sense that it was spot on to what was advertised. The fit of the coat was absolutely perfect AND it doesn’t have fake pockets like the other jacket does! Look at the bottom of the post for an overall rating.
