How To Wear Your Summer Lace Dress For The Fall

Happy Thursday! So glad it’s almost the end of the week. I can always look forward to my weekend because I’ll always have plans the Friday and Sunday. I’m not one for routines but having a couple of days set aside for your friends and boyfriend is always a nice way to end a work week. Considering I’m at work all day, it’s hard to make time for blogging so I’m glad I’ve been able to manage everything so far. I’m particularly excited about this weekend because of that light festival that I mentioned in a previous blog post! I’m just so so so excited to show you everything afterwards. Be sure to follow on Instagram to get a sneak peek!

I honestly didn’t expect to have more than 1-2 transitional posts but with the weather, I’ve been coming up with different ways to deal with the weather. One of the items I realized I wear all the time (but only in the summer) is a lace dress. I tend to buy lace dresses in a lighter colour so it’s perfect for the spring/summer season.

The dress I’m wearing today is my new favourite one in my (very small) dress collection! I saw it when it originally came out in stores at H&M but the $80 price tag was not in my budget whatsoever. When I saw that it went on sale for $30, I immediately bought it.

There are so many details to love about this dress and my favourite parts are the ruffled lace detailing on the bottom and the back. There’s also eyelet detailing along the ruffles both on the top and bottom of the dress. It’s perfect for any hot summer day. I decided to belt it with a simple white belt to add more detailing to the overall outfit and wore my favourite bracelet from Cherry Pick.

In one of my previous transitional posts, I mentioned how I transitioned a dress using a corduroy jacket. I didn’t want to do something similar like that so I decided to throw over a cropped turtleneck sweater that’s also from H&M. I’ve wanted to have this type of outfit for a while and considered using a white lace dress I own but it didn’t have the same effect it has with this dress!

Unlike wearing the dress on it’s own, the ruffles on the bottom are more prominent when you have a sweater on top. There is so much detailing on the dress, I feel like the back is what stands out for most people. I definitely got more comments about the back of the dress on my Instagram story versus about the ruffles!

Of course I had to wear my cabby hat (that is also from H&M)! Cabby hats are definitely trending more so now this fall season compared to last year! It’s literally my favourite fall/winter accessory to wear and it’s perfect for making any outfit 1000x more chic. I’m on the hunt for an affordable camel one so if anyone knows where to get one, let me know! Lastly, I paired it with grey booties to add more colour to the outfit instead of going with black booties to match the hat. I usually would match my accessories and shoes but I honestly like this look much better.

How would you wear your favourite summer dress in the fall? Let me know in the comments below!
