Good morning everyone! I haven’t done a fashion “DIY” or any DIY on my blog in a while. I actually have so many fashion-related DIYs on my blog spreadsheet that I figured I should start on working through them. Like I said in a previous post (or at least I think I did), I mentioned how I wanted to have different types of fashion posts instead of just style guides. As much as I love them, I want to shake it up a bit.
Straw hats have been an on-going summer trend since last year and it’s definitely a classic summer piece that will never go out of style. With that being said, there are a few ways of spicing up your hat (even if it’s temporary) so that you can switch things up a bit. I had a similar post like this back in September but I thought a summer edition was appropriate with the beautiful weather Toronto has been having!
I put DIY in quotations, mainly because all you have to do for this is use body tape to stick on fake flowers that I got from the dollar store. I use this versus double sided scotch tape because it’s flexible and can bend the tape better than scotch tape. As for the outfit, I wore a gingham romper that has a bow back. Gingham has been one of those trends that have been seen everywhere. I wore a pair of Converse Pro Leather since this day (which was actually yesterday), Carolina and I decided to have a picnic on the rocks by the lake. This picnic was actually so much fun even though it ended off with geese invading it…literally.
I love that the bow can be taken on and off this romper. I personally love bow details so I kept it on but there is a slit on the back of the romper where the ribbon goes. You could even add a plain black one instead of the gingham one provided if you wanted! I actually think that’d be super cute now that I realized that.
Anyways, that is it for this week’s post! I will actually have one up on Mondays (I know, if I usually post once a week it’s a Monday, not Thursday!!) Also, hope you like that this outfit post was taken in a bit of a more lifestyle setting! Can’t wait for you to see Monday’s post where my graduation dress is featured 🙂 Let me know what you think of the gingham trend in the comments!
